The July 2018 #PRSJournalClub featured “To Admit or Not to Admit? That is the Cleft Lip Question. Confirming the Safety of Outpatient Cleft Lip Repair” from this month’s @PRSJournal.
The study reviewed 546 cases of patients undergoing cleft lip repairfrom 2008 to 2015 at six centres and compared two groups: predominantly ambulatory (discharged or admitted for specific concerns) and inpatient (admitted due to surgeon’s preference). The impact of independent variables on admission, emergency department visits, and readmission within 1 month of discharge was analyzed. The article is available online here.
Resident Ambassadors to the PRS Editorial Board Dr. Franciso Egro (@FrancescoEgro), Dr. Nicole Phillips (@DrNikkiPhillips), and Dr. Ira Savetsky (@IraSavetskyMD) led an informative podcast with special guest Dr. William Hoffman. You can listen to the podcast below:
On July 29, @PRSJournal hosted an interactive Facebook Q and A with authors Dr. Stacey H. Francis and Dr. Artur Fahradyan. Plastic surgery residents and plastic surgeons engaged in the interactive Facebook Q and A forum, generating an informative online discussion. Thanks to all who were able to join us! For those who weren’t able to make participate, below is a summary of some of the key discussion points.
